Explosive [five sentence fiction]

[source]

"Stand back, it's going to blow," those words were forever burned into her brain, shouted by her partner on Engine 6. Now she was confined to her bed, hoping for a full recovery but expecting far less.

All her life she had believed that everything happened for a reason, no matter how bad it might seem at the time. She grasped the threads of hope that this would still prove true.

A knock at her door and she looked up into the bluest eyes she'd ever seen, accompanied by the brightest smile and topped off with a shock of spiky blond  hair - she smiled her biggest smile in return.

  3. Thank you, Rain. Some of my A to Z flash fiction stories are so much better, at least to me. I struggled a bit with this one... Thank you for visiting!

  4. Thanks, Lisa. This is definitely a tale that needs more words. Might have to work it into a longer story.
