Theme Reveal 2019 - #AtoZChallenge

How did this happen? I only decided on Saturday to participate this year and it's already theme reveal time! Over the years I have written mostly flash fiction here on my author site while on my personal site last year I featured our two Goldendoodles. One previous year here, I did travel posts about all the places we've been in recent years.

This year I'm continuing the tradition of flash fiction by writing microfiction or short stories 300 words or less. I selected my words from lesson plan page but going in reverse number order. For example, for the letter A I am using the 26th word on the list and for the letter Z I am using the first word on the list. Reversing the number choice meant I found my word for each letter listed on the page. Phew! Here is the list, pretty mundane as compared to last year.

26 A AUTOMOBILE
25 B BIRD
24 C CHICK
23 D DOLL
22 E EYE
21 F FLOWER
20 G GOLF
19 H HEN
18 I INSTRUMENT
17 J JEWELRY
16 K KIMONO
15 LEMONADE STAND
14 M MEAT
13 N NIGHT
12 O ONION
11 P PARACHUTE
10 Q QUILL
09 R RASPBERRY
08 S SANDWICH
07 T TEA
06 U UNICORN
05 V VASE
04 W WALL
03 X XYLOPHONE
02 Y YAK
01 Z ZEBRA

Now off to search for photos for inspiration. Want to see the pics I chose in advance of the stories? Please leave a comment and let me know, yes or no!

  1. What a clever idea! I wasn't aware of that list, but I've kept a note of it for future reference! Looking forward to your stories, and thanks for the word limit!

    1. I've chosen my words differently each time I've done this, from the first random words that come to mind, to ones equated to Spanish, to random blind picks and now this. Have to say, this group is pretty tame compared to previous years.

    1. Thanks, spending today on photos. Thinking of using black & white for them all, maybe with a vintage photo frame. Will have to see if that generates some stories in my head.

  3. No, I don't want to see pics in advance. It will be interesting to see what direction you go with such broad writing prompts!

    1. I have finally picked all my photos. Some are going to be difficult since the words are everyday nouns. Time will tell if I can pull this off!
