Today is THEME REVEAL day! As I stated earlier, I planned on writing flash fiction. Last time I had length restrictions, this time I won't.
But this time I chose two words for each story. They must be mentioned in the telling but they don't have to be the key to the tale.
How did I chose the words? First I brought up a noun list for each letter, then averted my eyes, scrolled the mouse down, stopped and double-clicked. That was the word! The second word was chosen the same way but from a dictionary list of words.
As in my first A to Z challenge, I then searched sites like Pixabay, Unsplash and Morguefile for photos to spark some inspiration. I found some good ones - I know they are good when I look at them and the opening sentence to the story comes immediately to mind.
Final note, why am I doing this? Why am I spending time writing these stories for free, when I could be writing another book? It's simple. I want to find the joy in writing again AND I want to stretch my creativity. Flash fiction does both! I hope this intrigues you enough to follow along.
Don't miss a post!

Sounds intriguing. What a cool way to select the words for each day. I look forward to reading your stories.

It will be interesting...especially with no length. My previous flash fiction A-Z stories were quite short.
DeleteI am so happy that you are participating again! This is how I found your blog last year! I enjoy reading your writing.
ReplyDeleteHi Morgan!! Glad you're still watching. This year is quite different than last where I wrote about our travels. Hope you enjoy the flash fiction!
DeleteSome interesting combinations of words, look forward to reading where they lead you. Good luck with the challenge, Iain

Thanks, Iain. Will be an interesting ride...I never know where my stories will take me and some of these combinations ARE bizarre. LOL! Working on them now...phew!
ReplyDeleteWhat a creative way to pick your words for your flash fiction. I think sometimes constraints can really expand creativity. Looking forward to reading your stores. WeekendsInMaine
ReplyDeleteIt is definitely going to be an interesting month! Hope I can make it through...LOL!
DeleteThis is a novel way (for me) to look for inspiration, picking two words and a picture. I tried my hand at flash fiction only once and quite enjoyed the experience, but then I got sidetracked. You may just inspire me to try again! I will be following your A-Z posts.
ReplyDeleteWell, Blogger has decided I can't do direct replies today (same as when I commented back to Iain. Sigh...
ReplyDeleteHester, I haven't done any flash fiction in several years so I am stretching myself. Keeping my fingers crossed!
Clever idea! I'll be stopping by regularly.
ReplyDeleteThanks, John. It will be a challenge!!
DeleteThis sounds like an exciting and mysterious theme. I’ll definitely be stopping by on a regular basis. Oh, and I love your labradoodle Theme also. You have a new fan.

The doodles were easy, hardest part was finding photos of them. Those are done. Working on the flash fiction, that is harder. Starting on F today and have no idea how I will combine Filigree and Faint. LOL!
DeleteWhat fun! That does sound really challenging. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks...it definitely is!! Hope you will stop by once in a while to see how I'm doing. :)
