He pulled the reins to the side and they slowed to a stop beside the park.
Jumping down he patted the rump of his faithful companion of almost twenty years, Reginald, and pulled out the feed bucket.
"We're just not useful anymore, buddy, an anachronism they said and no good for the environment."
They were being forced to retire, after more than fifteen years of service to tourists and locals.
The city didn't want the hassle of clean-up, said it was a bio-hazard.
He leaned against the broad side of his friend, pulled out a packet of beef jerky and bit off a piece.
As he chewed he replayed his little rhyme: "Clip-clop, clip-clop, all for naught; clip-clop, clip-clop, gotta stop; clip-clop, clip-clop, shoulda fought."
He bolted upright, "The newspapers, we gotta fight, Reggie, that's what we gotta do!"
