It's been a crazy year and to give thanks, I thought I'd share some of my favorite author book series. These are all book I have read (usually grabbing the first one and getting so hooked, I went out and bought the rest in the series). I hope you will give them a try!

Meghan Doidge: Dowser, Oracle, Reconstructionist (Urban fantasy, some adult content, graphic)
Nick Russell: Big Lake (Mystery, Police Procedural, some adult content, some romance)
Jamie Lee Scott: Gotcha Detective Agency (Mystery, Humor)

On my list for next year are the following series:

Mona IngramI have read several of her stand alone romances and really enjoyed them. She has several series I plan to check out.

My first A-Z Challenge from 2012

I remember my first challenge. I was only writing flash fiction and the feedback was good. I decided to to the A to Z in what I called 10 by 10 style. Here is a better description:
26 letters in the alphabet provide the start of 26 flash fiction stories. Each story was written based upon a word and a photo used for inspiration. That's the A to Z.

The 10 by 10 refers to the story length. Each story was written in no more than ten sentences but with a minimum of 100 words (10x10=100).

Some tell a sweet tale, some have unexpected twists, some leaving you wanting more and some, well that's up to you!

And here is one reader review:
These short pieces of fiction are a wonderful quick read. Well-written and well thought out to get your mind working and wondering... Each piece could be a start, middle or end to a longer story, so they keep you thinking about what the "rest of the story" could be! I loved each one.
But don't buy it now, even though it's only 99 cents. On Feb 11th and 12th, it will be free. Be sure to tell your friends, too! Save this link: http://amzn.to/18W3fQ0

I hope to repeat this for the next A to Z but time will tell. My work Almost a Touch, book three in my Klondike series, has to be in final edits AND my next Lei Crime novella must have the first draft done or time won't allow.

2014 Goals: July 31st UPDATE

Oh goody, an EXTRA DAY this month! I recently joined a blog hop to help me work on my yearly goals, at least my writing goals. So where am I on the goals I set initally? Let's take a look...

1) Book 3 & 4 of the Klondike Mystery series
Still no writing done, glad this is a one year goal. In January I had planned to get both books written in 2014. Well, not going to happen. My goal now is get book three done before year's end.

2) 7 Days of Seven: Short Story Snacks
Um, no  progress. I am targeting getting these done by the end of the year as well. Hey, gotta keep my goals realistic!

3) Monthly Newsletter
Second newsletter sent, have to pat myself on the back. Should be able to stay on track for this one.

4) NEW GOAL: Monday Motivation Posts
I started a new weekly feature, Monday Motivation Posts that seems to be going over well so I plan to keep this up.

July has passed quickly with our move, the death of THREE local expats (lots of legal issues being floated around, we have work to do here to be secure), and my move to the Mac from my PC. (Still a work in progress...blog post to follow at some point.)

So, here's to a productive August for us all. We fly back to the US for two months in late August. I will be attending the Writer's Police Academy conference initially, then it's on to TN and our property. We'll spend about a week there, getting the RV in order before we head to MD/DE to see family and get our doctor appointments in order. Ciao!

2014 Goals: June 30th UPDATE

I recently joined a blog hop to help me work on my yearly goals, at least my writing goals. So where am I on the goals I set last month? Let's take a look...

1) Book 3 & 4 of the Klondike Mystery series
Um, gulp, no writing done, some basic notes made. Why? Well, a couple of things. While hubby was in the US I ended up working on cleaning up my PC in preparation for moving to my new MacBook Pro. That meant dealing with a 3 month backlog of emails that needed to be dealt with as well as finding, deleting duplicate files and getting rid of old client stuff that I truly didn't need.

I also made an appointment to see a doctor here and get some Rx refilled. Well, that turned into getting blood work and a cardiologist appointment.

Finally, I lucked into (via a friend living in the building) finding a new apartment and we are moving on July 1st!! Yoiks!!!!! Spent several days on this, including helping our landlord find a new tenant and PACKING.

2) 7 Days of Seven: Short Story Snacks
Um, see #1.

3) Monthly Newsletter
YEAH!!! I actually managed to get this done. First newsletter in over ten months. Phew!

So not a banner month for productivity when it comes to writing but I still did get a lot done. Our apartment is mostly packed, we get our keys on July 2nd and move on July 3rd. Once unpacked my next priority is making the transition to the MacBook Pro so writing will be minimal once again. Maybe in August? LOL!

2014 Goals - SET

I recently joined a blog hop to help me work on my yearly goals, at least my writing goals. So this month I am stating my goals and then on the last day of every month I will post where I stand on meeting those goals.

As everyone knows, goals can be a moving target, so it will be interesting to see where I end up at the end of the year.

My main goal is to publish the next two Klondike Mysteries, "Almost a Touch" and "Clearly a Miss". Both will have settings outside Klondike, PA for the bulk of the story but still set in small town USA. The main characters will remain the same - well, unless they die.
My second goal is to finish up my middle-school short story series, 7 Days of Seven: Short Story Snacks, before year's end. Actually, I would LOVE to finish them before the end of August but time will tell. These are short but take more work because this is not my main genre (but it is a fun one with a bit of fantasy and magic included).

My final goal for 2014 is publish my newsletter MONTHLY with the first issue on June 15th. I have only used the newsletter for new book updates and I think a monthly update will work out better. If you haven't signed up, THIS is the link! The June 15th newsletter will announce the winner of a FREE COPY of any of my ebooks, with the winner chosen from my new subscribers so tell your friends!
