"Paradise Dream" - Cover Reveal

I got the final version of the book cover for Paradise Dream. I think it goes very well with the other three books. It also reflects a sense of a young couple walking the beach at sunset in Hawaii back in the late 60s/early 70s.

Buy Books 1-3
In addition, I have been busy plotting and researching religious cults and communes in both California and Hawaii back in that era. What an education I'm getting! I was busy raising a family and completely missed a lot of this. Hippies, marijuana, communal living, free love... While most were self-sufficient agrarian societies, a few were founded on capitalism. Some started with religious bases and evolved into a cult, others were more loosely founded by like-minded hippies wanting to get away from society. Next up for research is mixed race children in Vietnam during this era.

This is going to be an interesting, fun write!!

Kindle World Books Going Away

Just a reminder - my Lei Crime Kindle World novellas will not be available after July 15th. Amazon has decided to take down all the Kindle Worlds and the associated books. But if you have bought the books, any of the Kindle World books - not just mine, they are yours to keep.

For those who would like the Paradise Trilogy in print, it will be available late this summer. All references will have been removed to Toby Neal's Lei Crime characters, utilizing new character names. Then the three Paradise novellas will be republished as ebooks with those characters changes.

This is good news for those who love the characters I've created - the Thompson Twins,  brother and sister Nicholás and Lucia Santerez, as well as Lucia's love interest. So at least one new story will be written before the end of the year.

The bad news is I will lose all my reviews. So if you have read any of these, once I republish, I hope you will take time to enter a new review.

A BIG thank you to all my readers for your loyalty, patience and understanding.

Hawaii is palm trees, black sand and blue water—but for policewoman Lei Texeira, there’s a dark side to paradise.

Overcoming a past filled with scars, Lei makes a life for herself as a cop in the sleepy Big Island town of Hilo. When a routine patrol turns up two murdered teens, Lei’s world is rocked: she knows one of the girls. Even as Lei is drawn into the case, the killer’s attention fixes on her. Despite the strain of being toyed with by a murderer, Lei’s attracted to the lead detective, Michael Stevens--but she can’t afford distractions. Amidst an enchanting backdrop of Hawaii’s black sand beaches and shrouded fern forests, a killer’s closing in on her.

Moving right along and what's next?

What a busy week this has been! I realize I have been very remiss in posting here.

Even worse, I haven't sent out a newsletter in a LOoong time. I hope I can get back on track soon.

So what have I been doing? Well, for one thing, I published my first fantasy middle grade short story book (a collection of seven short stories).

Fanciful characters, amazing lands, and creatures unheard of in our world! Duits, wizards, rock fairies, Numanitoonics, tree sprites are just some of the fantastical creatures that come along looking for aid from the likes of Bernie Bushkin, Nicola Nippernosh, Luca Lucknless, Piper Pendergast and others.

These seven short stories were written with the idea of creating worlds where imagination runs free. Fanciful characters, amazing lands, and creatures unheard of in our world. I hope these stories will fuel a thirst for reading and encourage young folks to be more creative.

Each story has a life lesson involved - losing a best friend, bullying, missing a parent, helping others, dealing with family and more.

I also have been working hard to finish writing the second novella in my Lei Crime Kindle World "Paradise" series, Paradise Dead. I even pulled an all-nighter this past weekend. And I got it done! It's out for final edits and will be ready for the big launch on August 17th.

If you haven't read the first book, this is a great time to do so!

So what's next? That's easy. The first draft of the third book in my Klondike Mystery Series, Almost a Touch has been sitting on the back burner. Next week I will tackle it again with the hope of getting it published before the end of September.

If you haven't read the first book, this is a great time to do so!
When Cherie Marshall catches her fiancé and best friend in a compromising position, she cancels her upcoming wedding and jumps at the chance to escape to quiet Klondike, Pennsylvania to care for her elderly aunt. She thought her biggest issue would be adapting to life in the middle of a National Forest, so very different from her upbringing in the deserts of Arizona.

But that was before she met State Trooper Fire Marshall Jamison "Jazz" Maddox at the scene of a mysterious fire. As they both become acquainted with the close-knit Klondike residents, things get complicated as Cherie and Jazz find themselves in the middle of a local crime wave where arson, kidnapping, embezzlement and a decades old murder are just the tip of the iceberg.

What am I doing? Writing...writing...writing...

I'm writing and writing and writing...trying to make an August 12th deadline for an August 17th launch party for Paradise Dead, my second novella in my Lei Crime Kindle World Trilogy. The first was Paradise Down, available in the Amazon Kindle store. If you haven't read it, now would be a good time. Honest! ;)

#IWSG for July 2017: Excited

Once again, it's the first Wednesday in the month and time for a post for the Insecure Writer's Support Group.

The last two months have been hectic but I finally got my cataract surgery done on both eyes and now am looking forward to getting my permanent glasses. I can see distance very well since my nearsightedness was corrected with the lens implants, but now I'm very farsighted. I am using +2.50 reading glasses to even see what is in front of me to eat. LOL!

This month I'm going to use the prompt shared by our hosts at the Insecure Writer's Support Group because it fits what has been at the back of my thoughts these past few months.

Last month we talked about quitting.
This month, the excitement of writing has set back in.

I managed to get my middle grade fantasy short story compilation, 7 Days of Seven, loaded up to Amazon. Phew! Although I had no deadline for this, I am glad to finally get it done.

This sets me up to start back on my WIP, Paradise Dead, novella two in my Lei Crime trilogy. I have a personal deadline of August 1st and a hard deadline (final publication date) of August 15th. I feel confident (and excited) that I will make it this time. I hated missing the last deadline.

I would love to be working on the edits for book three in my Klondike Mystery series, Almost a Touch, in August with September as my target publication date. Fingers crossed!

Once that is done, I'll tackle the finally novella in my Lei Crime trilogy, Paradise Drift. November first is my target date. Phew!!

I'm full of excitement!!! What's got you excited?
