Bruised [Visual Dare]

Bruised [Visual Dare]
150 words - or less
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She looked closely, scrutinizing the shading, the diversity of colors. "Do you think it's okay?" she asked quietly.
"Of course it is. No one will notice. Forget about it." Her husband turned away, dismissing her as usual.
"But I worry-"
He stopped just short of the door. "Stop worrying. No one will know anything unless you tell them." He spun around, "And you're not going say a word. Agreed?"
She hung her head and nodding just enough to send him on his way and went back to her examination. She mumbled, "Maybe he's right. But he doesn't have to be such a dick about it though. He knows I'm a perfectionist. Everything needs to be perfect."
With a sigh she wiped a tear from her eye, pulled a small knife from the drawer and started slicing the bruised peaches for her cobbler.
  1. Ah - you went for the costume rather than the idea of the bruised face. Great take on the prompt!
    1. Thanks, I'm so out of practice with my flash fiction. Have to keep at it to find those special nuggets. ;-)
  2. Love the inner bruising of her emotions, against the bruised fruit she's supposed to use. Well crafted! So glad to find a VisDare entry from my fairy godmother. :)
    1. Ahh, thank you so much. Means a lot from Welsan's creator...
      Hoping to do more this summer, no time the rest of the year as I'll be busy riding Route 66 in Sep/Oct, prepping to move to Ecuador in Nov and MOVING in December. WOOT!
      But I'll be back with a vengeance in 2014 for sure!
    1. I knew everyone, well most everyone, would go with the abuse angle. I wanted something different, with a little twist. Glad you enjoyed it.
