#IWSG for July - The word is fragmented.

I missed last month but I really need to write my Insecure Writer's Support Group post this month. Why? Because I am, in a word, FRAGMENTED.

This time last year I was happily composing a lot of flash fiction. I felt confident. I was moving forward. I self-published some of my flash on Amazon and the reception was good.

In August I participated in Camp NanoWriMo and wrote the first 50k words of my first mystery novel, "Not a Whisper". I finished it up in September and then started the editing process.I finished that just in time for NaNoWriMo in November when I tackled my first romance novel, "Home Again".

After making it through the edit, proofing and formatting steps, I was tired. I had changed my Write 4 Ten blog from daily to 3x a week to 2x a week word prompts. Even this blog was sadly neglected.

Then a major life change opportunity presented itself - the possibility of moving to Ecuador for a few years. To properly evaluate this possible move, even after two months of intensive research, we needed to visit. So this spring we spent a month in Cuenca, Ecuador - high up in the Andes mountains. The end result? We ARE moving to Ecuador this December for 5+ years.

My wonderful readers are anxiously waiting for "Barely a Spark", book two in the Klondike Mystery Series. So now I must un-fragment myself and get it done, along with - are you ready - preparing for a two month motorcycle trip (Route 66) that we have been planning for three years now and preparing to close up home and move to Ecuador.

Can I fix it? How do you stay un-fragmented?

  1. Holy Moley, Donna! What great adventures! I'm thrilled for you. I'm in the summer doldrums with my writing at the moment, but it's happened before. I'll get through it. Congratulations on all the wonderful ideas flowing through you. :)

    1. Thanks, Jayne. I've had a really hard time getting motivated to write "Barely a Spark". Finally up to chapter five but I definitely feel like I'm pushing it. But I have a lot of fans waiting for this book so I need to keep it flowing. Good luck in pushing through your summer doldrums!

  2. Oh, wow! No wonder you're feeling a tad fragmented over all you have to do. I say take a deep breath and perhaps make some lists. Sometimes organizing your thoughts can help put the pieces back together.

By the way, for my bookmarks, I did the design myself, and then I used http://www.overnightprints.com/bookmarks to create the bookmarks. They were easy to use, produced good quality, and shipped fast.

    1. Thanks so much for the link on the bookmarks. I need to get some to take with me on our Rte 66 trip and then to Ecuador. Perfect!

I am a list maker, now I just need to get all the lists in one spot. ;-) Thanks for stopping by, Cherie.

  3. What news! A move does always make us feel that way. I agree with Cherie that making lists and organizing your thoughts will help. I just step back and do something else, let my brain recharge.

    1. I know that I'm blessed to be able to do this...we see a fair number of young folks traveling the world and both wish we could have done this while we were younger. Just glad we can do it now!
