This is my post for #SaturdayScenes.
I hope you enjoy it and will come back next week for another #SSFlashFiction tale!
Prompt: FIVE SENTENCE FICTION - Fenced
[source] |
"And she's around the corner for her final lap, closing in on the checkered flag for her biggest win of the year. The youngest female competitor to ever..." The announcer paused as his listeners waited for an update, "Oh no, something on the track, she's sliding towards the fence!"
In the joy of a new spring day, she somberly reflected upon what should have been a victorious moment, now an unobtainable goal thanks to the little squirrel that had been in her path.
Smiling, she moved forward knowing today she would have a chance to triumph once again but in the wheelchair games.
Thts really a touching piece, I really liked it :)
ReplyDeleteOh, no!! That's so sad.. :( Hope she finds happiness there!!
ReplyDeleteMy heart went out to her!
ReplyDeleteShe has a heart of gold :) What a strong woman! Loved it :)
ReplyDeleteThat's the spirit...touching and inspiring too.
ReplyDeleteThat ending was like a punch! Wow! My first husband was a quadriplegic ~ I know what life in a wheelchair means. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteOh-No!! Life can change in a blink of an eye!
ReplyDeleteHaha, what a nice little story. I was not expecting that ending! :)
ReplyDeleteI love an optimistic spirit, she is a beautiful character because of it
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone, glad you enjoyed it. Hope you will stop in again!
ReplyDeleteHaving been involved with motorcycles and motorcycle racing throughout my life, I can understand that "sliding" part... Fortunately, I never had any major injuries or knew personally anyone that did. I have to say, a young lady with the courage to take on the track will keep going no matter what kind of wheels she rides! An interesting take on the prompt!
ReplyDeleteVery touching Donna.
ReplyDeleteTina from The Sunny Side of Life
Yup, done the sliding too! Love how this is full of hope!
ReplyDeleteAs an avid motorcyclist (although not racer), this photo spoke to me and I had to tell her story. Glad you all liked it!! Thanks for visiting and commenting, I appreciate it.
