"Stand back, it's going to blow," those words were forever burned into her brain, shouted by her partner on Engine 6. Now she was confined to her bed, hoping for a full recovery but expecting far less.
All her life she had believed that everything happened for a reason, no matter how bad it might seem at the time. She grasped the threads of hope that this would still prove true.
A knock at her door and she looked up into the bluest eyes she'd ever seen, accompanied by the brightest smile and topped off with a shock of spiky blond hair - she smiled her biggest smile in return.
Your entry isn't lacking at all! I found the story interesting and was left wanting to know more about the characters and what set the explosion off. Good job!
