I've just learned that my flash fiction story, The Taxi Ride, has been accepted for National Flash Fiction Day. There's still time to polish your less then 500 words stories and get them submitted. At midnight of May 16th (BST) the stories will start rolling for the next 24 hours. Mine will roll around 8 pm (BST) or 3 pm (EST).
For anyone who missed my earlier post, I am officially published! My flash fiction story, The Dance, was accepted for inclusion in the book, 'I Am Woman' Anthology - Volume 1. It was just released on Amazon this week, in both the US and the UK. From the book page:
This collection features fictional stories and poems written by women from all over the world. It is a celebration of womanhood, of overcoming hard times and enjoying the good. Each story or poem, in its own way, illustrates the capacity every woman has for courage and strength, no matter what the circumstances.I hope you will consider getting a copy and pass the link on to family and friends.
The 'I Am Woman' campaign is about using our voices to help other women. To raise awareness of women across the planet who have in effect 'lost their voice' or had it taken away either through, fear, abuse, illness or war. We must speak for them until they can do it for themselves.
Proceeds from this book will be are shared equally between Women’s Aid, Breakthrough and Women for Women. No costs will be deducted.
I've decided to remove my A-Z flash fiction stories and publish them in a compilation e-book on Amazon. Why? I'm hoping to get my name out to a broader base in preparation for my upcoming novels. I won't make much money on the book but that's not the reason for publishing these stories. I will leave the posts up, keeping the photo, the first sentence and then a link to the book. I don't know if this has been done before or if it's a good thing, but I'm going to try it.
NOTE: Should be FREE all day today in honor of Mother's Day!
The next snippet is another bit of publishing news. I've also uploaded a short story that was expanded from an early piece of flash fiction I wrote. Another .99 special that I hope will gain a few readers. Check it out at TAGGED.
NOTE: Should be FREE all day today in honor of Mother's Day!
Now for this week's humor:
How many science fiction writers does it take to change a light bulb?
Two, but it's actually the same person doing it. He went back in time and met himself in the doorway and then the first one sat on the other one's shoulder so that they were able to reach it. Then a major time paradox occurred and the entire room, light bulb, changer and all was blown out of existence. They co-existed in a parallel universe, though.
How many publishers does it take to screw in a light bulb?
Three. One to screw it in. Two to hold down the author.
How many mystery writers does it take to screw in a light bulb?
Two. One to screw it almost all the way in, and the other to give it a surprising twist at the end.
How many screenwriters does it take to screw in a light bulb?
Why does it *have* to be changed?
How many cover blurb writers does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A VAST AND TEEMING HORDE STRETCHING FROM SEA TO SHINING SEA!!!!
Haha love the one about the mystery writers ;) you are truely inspirational in how much you have managed to get published on your own.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being published! I'm going to check out The I Am Woman Anthology - what an awesome way to support our fellow women.
ReplyDeleteNow it's time to start back writing on my WIP. ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt is an honor to have been selected for inclusion. Please keep passing the link along to your friends!
ReplyDeleteI think it's pretty cool that you've tidied up your A-Z project this quickly. The cover for the book is eye-catching.
ReplyDeleteThanks...I just wish I had known how to do the images the first time around. Now have to get Amazon to release the new version. Sigh... ;-)
