Montana is one of our favorite states. We spent several weeks there when we first met (in Wyoming, guess what the letter W is going to stand for) and have made more than one visit. In fact, it we ever won the lottery, we'd have a little log cabin in MT for summers and a little hacienda in AZ for winters. But first, we'd have to play the lottery.... |
Our first exposure to Montana was staying in a campground in Reed Point, a little town the highway bypassed. They were obviously working to restore the old buildings and we enjoyed walking the two block town. If we ever meet in person, ask me to tell you the Montana wine spritzer story.
From there we headed to White Sulphur Springs, Conestoga Campground. We had just met and I had a workamping gig there for the summer. On my off days, we did some amazing riding to local areas like Great Falls and the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, Bozeman and the Museum of the Rockies, and Helena (where we visited good friends).
Twice, we attended the National Folk Festival in Butte, MT. The first time in 2008 and the second in 2010. What an amazing event - both times!
And of course we had to visit Glacier National Park. I rode through it on my 2005 cross-country trip, spending time in Browning, MT to volunteer on the Blackfeet Reservation. This was Stu's first time and he loved it as much as I did.
We traveled through Missoula, Pintler Scenic Hwy, Whitefish, Anaconda, Kalispell and more.
Oh, did you realize Kalispell area is where book three in my Klondike mystery series is set? Coming soon!
BONUS: Mexican Riviera Cruise
