#SundayPhotoFiction - Daring

"We're not going anywhere, right guys? We're anchored to the ground, aren't we?" Karl was on the verge of having a panic attack. He'd never wanted to get into the basket of the hot air balloon, but his best friend had dared him. And he'd never been one to resist a dare.

"No sir, not unless you want to." answered one of the two crew members, barely suppressing a snicker. In an aside to his partner, "Not that we'd risk that in this weather." He nodded towards the clouds headed there way.

Karl continued watching the two men making adjustments to the rigging. None of the trio ever saw the lightning bolt that struck them, exploding the balloon and setting the basket on fire.

Karl's final thought was he should never have taken that dare.
