Is this your first year doing NaNoWriMo?
Yes it is and am a bit nervous.
If yes, why did you decide this was the year?
Basically on prompting from Twitter buddies and my husband I figured what the hell. The book I started back in May has been floundering and this is a chance for me to devote time to it and maybe even get a first draft finished.
If yes, what is your greatest fear?
I'm not sure I have a fear as such, but I'm worried that it takes over and I have nothing to show for it at the end. I suppose I'm also worried that the story runs out of steam or it's totally rubbish when its finished hehe.
How much preparation do you plan to do before November 1st?
I'm a bit of a pantster so have done very little, if I do too much I may get bored and that will defeat the whole point of the exercise.
Got anything you'd like to tell us about this years project?
As its my first project I'm sticking with what I know and that is Horror/Paranormal.
There will be quite a few deaths in the book, some will be a bit out there, some standard, as the main thrust of the book centres around a being that sucks the essence of people who have died horrible deaths. Its been his job for hundreds of years but he's beginning to question why and that's going to get him in a bit of bother.
That is currently what the book is about but who knows if thats what I'll end up with, will have to see how the characters feel about that.
Anything else you'd like to share?
I don't think I would consider NaNoWriMo at all if it wasn't for the support various twitter buddies have shown me over the past few months. (yourself included :)) If you were to try and do this on your own I imagine it would be a very lonely scary time. I'm also happy with the way my writing has progressed since May and feel that I may be actually ready to write more than 1000 words.
I'm a mother of 2 who has been writing since May 2012. I love all things horror and have become addicted to Flash Fiction.
