I still haven't gone the kindle route (although it's just a matter of time), so this is a huge problem for me. Packing and moving overseas was particularly problematic.
Hi Donna. I'm visiting from the A to Z circuit. Thanks for swinging by my blog. I also love books - the old-fashioned, hardcopy/paperback version... though I'm not averse to the e-book... I just don't have a Kindle... yet! Nice to meet you *waves*
Writers are also known as voracious readers. It helps the muse. Do you want some technical books to read? When I got the ax in 2010, I brought home my personal copies of all of the Perl books, HTML books, PHP books... well, you get the idea. They fill a large tub. LOL
I have a Kindle and a Kindle Fire. And, have the app on the PC and my smartphone. I can read anywhere!
Books are an integral part of my life. Whenever I get interested in a subject, I load up on books. The story of my life can be read on my bookshelves which inhabit every room in my house. Top to bottom, shelves sagging with books - couldn't live without them. BTW-I have managed to live without a Kindle so far.
The hardest clearing of stuff was saying good-bye to most of my books. Over the years, I had quite an extensive library built up. I kept the ones essential to my well-being :) and teaching Reiki and bid farewell to the rest. That being said, have a look in the living room cabinets . . . yep, books, books, books and a wee few journal books. :)
How did you get in my house to take that picture? I have about 16 bookcases, 4 over 8 ft tall, all double stacked with books. I LOVE THEM! they are part of me - the memories, the adventures, the physical beauty of each one... well most of them! We live in a 400 yr old cottage, really we should have the floors strengthened. i also love books eclectically - every type fiction and non-fiction in my case too as I research my poetry about animals.
If you are interested, I'm leaving you my A-Z link as blogger always identifies me as my shared blog with other poets - my A-Z is this one: http://www.lizbrownleepoet.com
Lol- yes thank heavens for the kindle! I just got one, it's a great space saver but it sure doesn't smell and feel as good as a book, does it? Thx for visiting my twins :) Stopping by from a to z challenge #893 Leigh @oneandoneequalstwinfun.com
Okay, I admit that I cheated a bit on this one. Not flash fiction but still 10x10. It just seemed so appropriate...and by all the comments, it seems to have struck a common cord with us writers. LOL!

ReplyDeleteBest blog comment EVER...made me laugh out loud. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteBook hoarders of the world...UNITE! :)
ReplyDeleteLove this take on H! I, too, am a hoarder of books. The Kindle just means they take up less physical space in my house. ;-)
ReplyDeleteUnless they keep raising Kindle prices! In that case we may have to head back to the book bins!
ReplyDeleteMe too! My husband groans every time we move. All those books are darn heavy! I have a Kindle now too but somehow its not as fun. :)
