#NaNoWriMo Interview: Lisa Bilbrey

Is this your first year doing NaNoWriMo?
This is my first year doing NaNoWriMo.

If yes, why did you decide this was the year?
Ultimately, the reason I decided to participate this year was because of peer pressure. It's true. The publishing house I co-own was setting up an incentive to our writers that were planning on joining. With their support, I decided to jump on the bandwagon and give it a go!

If yes, what is your greatest fear?
Honestly, I’m not afraid of anything. I write every day, so November will just be another month for me, but I will encourage any first-timer to make time every day to write. Whether, you get 500 words or 2000 words, writing every single day will help encourage your fuel your creativeness.

How much preparation do you plan to do before November 1st?
I haven’t done much, honestly. Other than working on a very vague outline for each chapter, I don’t have much more. I’m not one to dig through photos to find out what my characters look like, or do much planning in that way.

Got anything you'd like to tell us about this year’s project?
My project this is the sequel to my recently released short novella, The Journey Home. The sequel, titled The Journey to Forever, will pick up where The Journey Home left and will fill in the gap between chapter ten and the epilogue. I’m so excited to get back to Travis, Penelope, and Max.

Anything else you'd like to share?
I’d just like to encourage all writers out there to put yourselves into your work. Pour your soul, your heart, your spirit into each word and allow your characters to come alive.

Lisa Bilbrey is a mom of three and has been married to her high school sweetheart since 1996. Finding a love in the written word, she started writing as a way to express herself. From the first word she wrote, she'd found her heart and soul. Always willing to learn, she's spends much of her time trying to improve as a storyteller. She's been blessed to find Michele Richard and Laura Braley, both of whom she spends hours every day writing with.
