#NaNoWroMo Interview: Stephanie Nelson

Is this your first year doing NaNoWriMo?
No. This is the second year. The first time, I ended up with 4500 words. During Camp NaNo, in May, I got 25000. Finally, in August, I made it with 50074.

What is the best tip you can give to a first-time NaNo'er?
Write! It doesn't matter what the quality is. You can edit later.

How much preparation do you plan to do before November 1st?
In the past, I have just written by the seat of my pants. In August, I had a super rough outline. This November, I'll have at least the rough outline if not a detailed outline.

Got anything you'd like to tell us about this years project?
It's the prequel to a book I've already written. I feel this will be instrumental in trying to iron out the kinks in my "finished" novel.

Anything else you'd like to share?
Love all the support I get from my family and friends.

I'm a mostly SAHM to 5 kids. We have a small farm and try to have lots of fun all the time. Hope to see you on the NaNo site! My Blog: cropsofmemories.blogspot.com

  1. Stephanie - It really is all about sheer persistence, isn't it? The key to NaNoWriMo, and to writing in general, is to simply not give up. And the support of the people around you sure doesn't hurt either…

Donna - These interviews were a great idea. I'm enjoying reading other writers talk about their NaNoWriMo processes and experiences.
